Sliding doors are used in a number of different situations. In properties where there is limited space and the operation of a traditional swing door may not be possible they are ideal. In some cases, partially or fully-opaque sliding doors are used to bring light into a room, and they are also used in homes to offer easy access to a garden or conservatory.
One of the concerns that many people have about sliding doors is that they are not as secure as their swing counterparts.
Traditionally, sliding doors were fitted with little more than a weak sliding bolt, or maybe even a loop and pin locking system. Now, thanks to our market-leading sliding door locks, security is something you no longer need to be concerned about.
Type of sliding door locks
We stock a number of sliding door locks from leading brands such as Cisa, Chubb, Yale and Union. The following are some of the most popular ranges.
Cisa 45110 – Accepts a standard Euro Profile Cylinder, which could have a turn on the back to allow keyless entry.
Union 2401 – A 5 lever sliding mortice dead lock with 'grab' style locking bolt. Turning the key when the door is closed pushes the bolt sideways to secure it.
Union 2477 - A 3 lever sliding mortice door, operates in the same way as the Union 2401
Cisa 45010-16 – Used mainly on smaller than standard doors and frames. Can be used not only on sliding doors but also on many other applications. The case size of the lock is 30 mm and comes with its own small oval cylinder.
Chubb 3M51 - This lever key sliding door offers a clever locking mechanism which automatically lifts and drops the hook latch.
Union C-Series 3M50 Perfect for timber sliding doors, this detainer mortice hook bolt lock can be operated with a number of key combinations. Suitable for use on doors up to 50mm thick.
Union C-Series 3M51 5 – As above, for sliding doors that require an automatic closing action. This specialist lock is force resistant, anti-pick and anti-saw, making it ideal for those who are completely single minded about security.
