Digilock 6G Programming Key - KEY-D6-PRG-00-01

The Digilock KEY-D6-PRG-00-01 Programming Key is an electronic management key designed for the setup, programming and administration of compatible Digilock electronic locks.

The Programming Key is used during the initial setup of compatible Digilock locks and is required when registering Manager Keys to a locking system. It can also be used for authorised management access, changing supported lock settings and providing external power to compatible locks if the internal batteries are unable to power the lock normally.

What Does the Digilock Programming Key Do?

The Programming Key is primarily an installation and administration credential. It is not intended to be used as the normal day-to-day user credential for a locker or cabinet.

Initial Lock Setup

Compatible Digilock locks are supplied with factory default settings and must be configured before normal use. During setup, the Programming Key is inserted into the lock and is used to register one or more compatible Manager Keys.

A Programming Key and at least one Manager Key are normally required to complete the initial setup of a compatible Digilock keypad lock.

Programming Manager Keys

The Programming Key allows authorised Manager Keys to be added to compatible Digilock locks. This is particularly useful for installations where multiple members of staff require management or override access.

Express Registration

Compatible Digilock systems support Express Registration, allowing management credentials to be transferred efficiently across multiple locks. This can significantly reduce setup time on larger locker, cabinet or workplace storage installations.

Management Override

The Programming Key can provide authorised management access where user access is unavailable. This allows facilities staff or system administrators to inspect and manage compatible locks when required.

External Power

The Programming Key can provide external power to compatible Digilock locks. This is useful when the internal batteries no longer have sufficient power to operate the lock normally.

Lock Configuration

On supported Digilock keypad locks, the Programming Key can be used when configuring lock functionality such as Shared Use or Assigned Use operating modes and other supported management settings.

Shared Use and Assigned Use

Compatible Digilock electronic locks may operate in either Shared Use or Assigned Use mode.

• Shared Use: designed for lockers or storage units that are temporarily used by different people. Once the current user unlocks the unit, it becomes available for another user.
• Assigned Use: designed for lockers or storage units allocated to a particular user or group. The authorised credential remains assigned to the lock until it is changed by management.
